The International Surfing Association-sponsored World Championship of Surfing was held in October in Huntington Beach, California. Teams of surfers from as many as 40 countries including Ireland, Morocco, and Indonesia (shown above) came to compete. Main Street was almost too small to hold the parade of international athletes during the opening ceremonies.

This special exhibit in the International Surfing Museum celebrates the diversity of surfing culture represented by the ISA competition. Participants in the competition contributed a great variety of posters, brochures, t-shirts, and other artifacts from all over the world.
